Dear Carol,
If you can pass this on to our classmates please, I couldn’t reach Ed yesterday and heard from his wife Jerry this morning that he left us last night. Oh my, ol’ steady Ed, a rock and a pillar, his family as we will, will miss him.
We pretty well grew up together, went through the adolescent things and cars together, diving and fishing were also passions shared. Later as young adults when both of our families were young, we camped together all over San Diego County.
After graduation Ed went to work for SDG&E, married Jerry, daughters Jenny and Jill followed and he worked his way up the ladder nicely, staying with the Gas Company until retiring several years ago. They have enjoyed many a cruise in retirement and have raised the grandchildren, now in high school. Again, a rock and a pillar, Ed will be missed.
With Ed’s wishes, there will be no services but he did express a desire for a party later on. In further keeping with his wishes he will be cremated and Jerry as she travels will take Ed with her, leaving some of him here and there. In the vernacular of our generation, that’s cool, and most appropriate having known Ed.
Hugs,
Jim
